Sable breeding, is it worth it?
Ok, wanting to start breeding soon. Came across a good job, always been interested in snakes since I was little. Thinking of buying a Cinnamon Lesser Sable male, but I know there's a lot of debate between the looks of Cinnamon and Sables. Would it really be worth breeding them, or would it just be more worth for me to invest my money into pieds? I feel the biggest issue for me with a 3 gene starter would being able to tell the genes apart with hatched babies. Since sable seems hard for me to tell. I know the whole if you love the morph just breed it thing, but I love all morphs but would rather definite money over man I can't tell this morph of this baby. I also heard a lot of things saying sables with spiders is dangerous so would limit breeding. I mean I may just buy it, but what do you think would be best to breed it with? Also what's a good way to see Sable.

buy your females first because they need 2 more years in average to get ready than males. chose the morph you like and keep in mind you will he those snakes for atg least 20 years.

Super easy to see the sable gene in a hatchling. Sable on the right, normal in the middle, and dinker on the left. Easy breezy. I love sables.

Money wise, no it is not worth breeding sable right now as most people see sable as a junk gene. However beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you like it, why not go for it. Either that or if you think you can find a combo that will appeal to more people, try it out. Yellow belly and enchi used to be junk genes also, then came along the combos with them, now they are staples in most collections.

I've kept and bred sables before and they're very nice snakes. However they do have issues similar to the spiders and several of their combos have turned out to be real train wrecks which I think has contributed greatly to their lack of popularity.
