Can someone help me identify this spot on my BP?
Hey everyone! Just made an account after lurking for a while. I have an 8 month old female piebald and I recently noticed a small black spot growing near her back end. I've also noticed a black speckle on her jaw, near her mouth. Can someone help me identify this spot?

I haven't really found any black speckles in her water dish, but I have found some black marks on her paper towel. However, even the fresh paper towel has these spots, and they don't appear to have legs.

The way I test to see if they are mites is by, putting my nail in the middle of the black speck. If there is blood, it is a mite!

Otherwise, I'm not sure what else it could be?

If you suspect mites then get some reptile spray and apply to the paper and snake. Do not spray on the head just spray the snake and let it run through your hands to apply it on its body. Make sure you remove the water dish for a day or so when you do this so they don't crawl through it and then drink it. Try that and see what happens.

Do you mean just pushing on the black dot and seeing if any blood comes out or around the scale?

I'm definitely going to buy a mite killer, however I'm not sure which one to buy! I heard provent-a-mite is good, but it can harm snakes. What would you recommend?

Quick update, I managed to scrape a bit under the scale, and I scraped out a tiny black piece of the speck, i didn't see any blood, but there is definitely something under her scale. Any thoughts?

Try getting the black spec, put it on a white paper towel, put your nail straight through the middle, any blood?

If you're unsure, it is probably best to just treat for mites, I am not sure of the best items to use other in the US. I know people mention PAM.. not the cooking oil.

I saw no blood when i took it out, maybe it's just dirt? I'll keep an eye on her water dish.
