    Melamine or PVC
Looking to pick up our next cage. Trying to decide between PVC cage or melamine cage. I personally like both. Pros and cons. And why. Help me decide as the 2 I'm looking at are very similar in price

Melamine can be incredibly heavy depending on the size of the rack and can sag with time if it's not insulated from moisture.

I have both. It would depend on the size of the enclosure. I picked up some 96" melamine enclosures used and while they are sturdy, easy to maintain, keep the heat and humidity well, etc. due to their weight they will never make it upstairs into my herp room, so now I have snakes in the living room.

Same case with us, haha. Three people couldn't lift the rack up the stairs.

Right now these are small enclosures. 30" just for my young snakes

Even if they are small, I would still go with PVC. It's waterproof and later, not to mention it seems to be the way things are going and will probably have a better resale value in the future should you choose to sell it

There are advantages to PVC rack, they are lighter, do not sag over time and are flame retardant.
