    Looking into carpet pythons
My next snake I think is going to be some kind of carpet python... I just can't decide on a particular one. I want one that has a golden/black coloration. Size isn't an issue for me so if I could get some feed back that'd be great... thanks for all the help guys

I think carpets make a great addition to any collection Guy. I recently picked up a yearling coastal and a jungle hatchling. I couldn't be happier with my choices. For your preferred color scheme you should look at the Irian Jaya's, Bredli, Darwins, and some Coastals. I'd highly recommend Nick Mutton at Inland Reptile. He's great to work with and produces some stellar animals. I hope you find exactly what you're looking for.

AnimalBytes/ CrittaCam has many videos with these snakes. Who is that guy from Australia... Peter Birch??? I recently watched a good video where he talks about them at length, and compares the various ones.

I'll have to spend some to go through that website... it's crazy how many there are. And they are a bit pricey but I'm willing to save for what I want. I'll definitely check out critta cam. I'm a huge fan of Brian and snakebytes

I'm partial to jungles(cheynei) myself. I'm raising up a dozen little nippers right now and am looking forward to observing the ontogenetic change.

They get a fair sized given enough time. Definitely not a snake you want to grow fast or overfeed. While both of my adults are right around 6 feet, the male has a good bit more girth - though he is 15 years older than the female.

Guy, Carpets are cool snakes and a lot of fun! :)

They are a nice step up from a BP or Boa. They are quicker and faster in their movements, yet very deliberate. Always reaching for that next thing to crawl on.
Don't expect a Carpet to chill with you on the computer or at the TV, though there may be some that will.

They are also very food responsive. Just think opposite of the average BP.

I have 3 Coastals now and a Jungle. So I reckon that I'm biased with 4 out of 6 Constrictors being Carpets. :D

If you haven't obtained the book: The Carpet Python, by Nick Mutton, invest $40 and get it off Amazon. Fabulous information and a great reference!
