    Ideas?
    Hey guys,
I am thinking about getting my adult male corn snake a 40 gallon tank, so I would have a 20 gallon tank empty. I know that he probably can stay in that the rest of his life but he was my first snake so I would like to give him a bigger enclosure. Now about the empty 20 gallon tank, what snake can live in a 20 gallon for the rest of its life? I am open to colubrids, pythons and boas (besides sand boas can any boa fit in a 20 gallon?) I am also open to some lizards but snakes would be preferable. Again not a for sure thing just want to see some ideas. Thanks

What type of 20-gallon, standard (20" x 12" x 16" tall) or long (30" x 12" x 12")? The difference in length doesn't sound like much, but it is a 25% increase in floor area that may make a difference.

A male Tarahumara would be the smallest BCI and I think the 20-gal would still be too small for an adult. It would work for 2-3 years though. Same for a male king snake.

African House Snakes stay on the smaller side, IIRC males top out under three feet, and they are easy to care for.

Thanks for the idea. I will look into African house snakes. Anyone else have any ideas?

Have you considered a hognose? A 20 gallon should be more than enough size for one :)

Yeah, I have looked into hognoses. They seem like super cool little snakes and are certainly an option if I have an open tank.
