    Thinking about getting another snake
At the moment I have 8 reptiles. 4 snakes 2 lizards and 2 geckos. The snakes are 2 bps a king snake and a boa. The boa is getting her permit cage soon so a spot will open up and I was thinking about getting another snake but I'm not sure what kind. I was thinking a colubrid or maybe another bp. I'm up for any suggestions you guys have.

I've been looking into hognoses and bloods for my next snakes. Hognoses are colubrids and I think they're pretty interesting.

How about a different kind of king from the one you have now. Say you have a Cali king, get an MBK.

A hognose, dumerils boa, or a small locality boa would be fun also.

If you want a new colubrid you could look into Pits-Bull, Pine & Gopher snakes. They're a little larger than kings but the husbandry is pretty much the same. They can even be kept a few degrees cooler. You could also look into carpet pythons. I've added two carpets to my collection recently and can't say enough good things about them. They make beautiful display animals. The husbandry is pretty simple too.

I'm kinda looking for something somewhat on the smaller size.

The Children's, Spotted, and Savu pythons are all smaller species. My young spotted python is an absolute sweetheart. She's more adventurous and active than our BPs, but not as flighty as our king and milk about the same age can be.

I have 1.2 savu pythons. The male is two years old and still tiny enough that he fits in the same hatchling rack I use for my ball pythons. They are very nippy as babies but for the most part have settled down. Temperment-wise they remind me of a very defensive retic; fortunately they have tiny teeth.

Tarahumara boa females top out at five feet, males at 4-4.5 feet. They were also defensive as youngsters but have mellowed with age and consistent handling.
