Here are a few pics of my new african cichlid tank. It's a 45 high tank. There are 5 cichlids and one catfish.
1 Melanochromis auratus- yellow/black horizontal stripes
    1 Labidochromis caeruleus-bright yellow
    1 Pseudotropheus zebra blue
    1albino of some kind :)
    1 ? reddish brown... anyone...?
    1 Synodontis eupterus catfish

Very nice, are you thinking of placing a rock wall in? There is a "Rusty" cichlid, I am unaware of the latin or lake origin. But maybe that is your reddish brown. I know they are a bit on the bland side for africans

let's all go into shed now
A rock wall would be nice; it';d offer them some more hiding spots, since they really can only hide near the bottom now. I wish I could have gotten out into the woods before this snow fell, to get some slate to put in there. I am probably just going to buy some plastic suction cup caves to put in there, and some much taller plants. I also want to get more cichlids, but the store I go to has not gotten more in yet and I am not supporting petco!
Thanks Rusty; I am sure if I Google for awhile, I can find Rust's latin name. He is not that flashy looking, granted, but I liked the look of him for some reason; kinda figured his coloring would compliment the driftwood in the tank!

The white one is an albino, but he has this beautiful blueish hue to him.
Doesn't the blue guy look almost fake? :)

In my experience with african cichlids the more you have in there the less aggressive they are IMO , but you have great looking fish.

Yes, I can't wait to get a few more. The yellow striped one seems to be the main aggressor, and I assume it is a female since it has no spots on its lower fin. But then again, I see her chase around everyone, and they chase each other in turn, so no one is really p[icking on just one fish. I want to get roughly 5-6 more of them, but the stores around here are limited; might just have my friend special order a few for me.
