feeding mice to males, rats to females
Does anyone do this? Thus far, I have been feeding rats to everyone except the "mousers".

I am considering feeding all my males mice from now on. I have a supply of cheap jumbo mice in the 40 to 50 gram size, half the price of the same sized rats. I am thinking that once the males get to breeding size, it doesn't take so much food to keep the size on anyway. It would get expensive if multiple mice are fed because the rats get cheaper per gram as they get bigger.

Does anyone else do this? I'll admit my motivation for this is cost cutting. But I do know first hand some get hooked on mice.

I don't think feeding mice to an adult bp will turn into a cost cutting measure, quite the opposite I would think.

I've done this in the past when I've had left over mice and didn't want to give them to my big females. I'd give two jumbo mice to an adult male every two weeks or so to try to keep him in the 1000g range, and they would keep growing without thinning out at that.
