How do you measure the length of a BP?
I am having so much trouble trying to measure my active 1 month old BP. I've tried aligning a piece of yarn to her body but it doesn't work :colbert:... little Ziggi just won't stop moving and exploring, at least I know she is healthy and active

I use a few online programs one of them being serpwidgets snake measurer. It is super easy to use. You need a measurement tool like a ruler or a length of string you know the exact measurements of and the snake itself. Take a full body (not balled up) picture of your snake next to the measurement tool and upload it to the website and measure. There is also an app call the snake ruler for both android and iphone... I personally do not like it as my fingers are bigger then the pictures and there are a few workable bugs but otherwise it works.

I just weigh mine. So much easier than length. ;)

You Wil find out that most people do not simply because aside from not being pratical it's pretty irrelevant as well for most keepers and definitely for breeders.

Weight is the measurement everyone relies on as well as proportion.

For the most part, I just estimate length every now and again, alongside regular weigh-ins.

Only remotely reliable method I've used so far was to measure part of my computer desk after she almost fully uncurled across it :P

I weigh them, and just guess on length. I've tried to measure them but it's a pain.

Let him slither on the ground, and when he's more or less fully stretched out, use two spots of the surrounding area as reference, and measure that. If their head is bent around but the rest of the body is pretty straight, add a couple inches to the total.

For example, my snake slithered along the base of a wall and in front of a door. His head was at one end of the door, and the tail within an inch of the other end of the door, so I just measure the door width and he was about 40 inches in length at the time. Piece of cake.
