Squeaky ball python

My bp is about 2 years old and has squeaked since I got him about a year and a half ago. I've seen RIs and I'm fairly certain that's not it. He does it more when he's agitated but it happens often regardless. I'm not particularly concerned about it, just curious as to why and how he does it. Thanks for any answers y'all can give me!!

What morph is he?

Has he shed recently? Sometimes a tiny part of shed will get stuck in their nose and make a little whistling noise. If not I would double check for RI signs.

Black pewter and he does it all the time regardless of when he sheds. He's never shown signs of an RI, he eats everything I put in front of him, he's not underweight, no bubbles in his mouth, no weird behavior. I also doubt he'd survive for 2 years with an infection.

There is your answer. Black pastel morphs and their combos can have a "squeak" sometimes. Duck billing is a known issue with some lines of super black pastels, if your black pastel is squeaking then I wouldn't use him to make a super.

Well that's interesting. Thanks for the info!! And I don't plan on doing any breeding anyway.

That's his way of hissing. If they have differently shaped noses or if there is some kind of nasal obstruction it often can sound like a squeak or a whistle. It's just his way of saying 'stop messin with me' .
