Can I use just any driftwood inside a BP tank?
We found a great piece of drift wood up north this summer. Brought it home, cleaned it up up with some scrubie brushes and hot water, then left it in the sun to dry for the day. Tonight I baked it in the over at 250 for about 3 hours as suggested on another forum. It left a very sweet smell in the house and when I took it out of the over it looked as tho sap was driping down the one side. I didn't think it was pine but honestly I'm not a drift wood expert. It could be cedar for all I know. Are all types of wood okay to use in a BPs tank? Are certain woods toxic or possibly pose potential health issues? Iv read on other posts where people have used bleach to clean the wood but I feel that would be more toxic. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanx all

it should be fine, if you were to use bleach to clean it you would just dilute it with water, rinse it well and let it gas off. But as long as the sap is dry and not sticky I don't see an issue. Ever since I went bio-active with all my cages I just collect wood from outside and throw it right in the cage...
