Weird Ball Python Shed?

Hello!

So here's some husbandry info before anyone asks.. lol
Cold side: 76-78 degrees
Middle: 80-82 degrees
Hot side: 89-91 degrees
Humidity usually between 55% - 65% but I bumped it up to 70% when I noticed her go in blue.
Heat lamp, UTH on a thermostat set to 92 degrees.
She is on forest bark, has three hides (one on the cold side, one in the middle, and one on the hot side) has a water dish that's always full, clean, and accessible, I have a bunch of fake plants that give her lots of cover when she comes out and a few climbing branches to give her lots of choice as she enjoys climbing.

What I am concerned about is the fact that she began her shed, and then stopped and went to sleep...She shed her head and some of her neck and then stopped. She has two big pieces of shed hanging off the top and bottom of her neck and it looks like her skin is all ready to come off but she isn't working to actually get it off. Is that normal? Is she just being lazy (lol) or is this a situation that justifies me being concerned? I haven't been handling her, but her feeding day was a two days ago so I offered anyway and she did eat s even though she's in the middle of a shed. Any input would be appreciated as I can't find any similar situation when I try and research it!

I wouldn't worry about it :) some take longer than others to shed. I have some that are really quick shedders and some that just take their sweet time. As long as they get it all off is all that matters :) hope this is helpful

Thanks! I was just worried that something was wrong and that's why she stopped. This is my first snake and her first shed with me so I've been a little paranoid...lol I've been trying really hard to make her home as perfect as I can for her, so if anything doesn't sound right with my summary above please tell me! :)

Congrats on your first snake! And we've all been a paranoid first snake parent it's pretty stressful. I still stress about mine all the time honestly even though I know they are fine deep down. But your husbandry sounds spot on :D she should do very well in her home with that setup.

How long do I wait until I should be worried though? Lol She still hasn't made even the slightest attempt at getting the rest off.

It's all off! :) She got most of it off herself except a little bit on the tip of her tail and mid way up her torso so I soaked her for 5 minutes and it came right off. She is now missing a spur, but I read that's its normal and sometimes happens during a shed. I fed her today so now she's all happy and fat! :)

Good to hear it all came off. I do have a comment though, nothing to get worried over, but a snake in the right humidity should shed all in one piece. Unless my room is too dry, every snake from hatchling to adult sheds in one piece.

I was thinking the same thing... Her humidity never dropped lower than 65%. Her last shed before I got her was a really bad one and the store I got her from didn't really do anything to try and help her after. She had stuck shed all over when I got her and there was one piece on her head that didn't come off until this shed. She also came with mites... I treated with PAM twice and they're all gone, but maybe her having mites had something to do with it? We'll see how her next one goes!
