I have a query but first i'll give you an idea of my setup
I have a 2x1ft viv housing my pastel called Scarlet. Born in june and currently weighs 155g.It has a glass bottom with a slot under the glass for the heat mat so the mat isnt directly inside the viv. Its controlled by a thermostat.
I have a digital thermometer with two probes one of which is placed on the glass bottom under the substrate and right on top of the heat mat and the other is on top of the glass bottom under the substrate but by the front glass window in the non-heated end.
She has been eating every week very well and putting on weight consistantly. She handles well and all seems good. She seems happy and content.
However.......the temerature probe in the hot end reads 39c and the cool end probe reads 21c. Surley these are too high and too cool respectively. The ambient temp in the viv doesnt feel particularly warm but the cheap stick on gauge I have on one wall reads consistantly about 80f.
When i had the probes on top of the substrate the readings were more in keeping with advised temperatures ie 34c and 24c.
Should i leave things as they are as all seems well or would i be better to change the set up/temperature? ??? Is the hot end too hot based on the reading under the substrate? Thanks in advance
