2 nights ago I tried to feed Mr Burrows but he stayed in hide. I know he was there, I saw him. Last night, around 7:30 pm I changed water and checked temps as usual. Then some time during the night around 1:00 am I heard a noise in living room and went to check. Seemed okay, nothing out of place so went back to sleep. Maybe it was noise from a neighbouring apartment and I just thought it was closer.

This morning...woke up at usual 5:00 am, went in to kitchen. I have a coffee maker with a blue LED panel, bright enough that I don't need to turn on kitchen light to get coffee started. So I did that, went out of the room, returned in a few minutes and turned on light...and that's when I noticed my snake on the kitchen floor.

I was a little freaked out! Picked him up, checked him out and he looked fine; he was more active than usual so after a few minutes, went to put him in his cage. The front sliding glass doors were both still closed :confusd:

The only possible way he got out was through the top. But it is held down with clips in each corner, and I have some items on top of the screen that do not appear to have been moved or disturbed. I rationally know snakes can squeeze through seemingly too-small holes and openings but I'm completely at a loss as to how he escaped from this enclosure.

I recently went through a similar incident with a new Arizona mountain king snake. She is now in a new enclosure , a tub with locking side handles. She was previously in a 10 gallon quarantine tank. I had clips on both ends of the tank. Probably should've had two more clips. One for each corner. Don't put him back there unless you add more clips or a different enclosure like a tub with locking handles. :gj: Good luck and I'm glad you found him.
