    Ivory morphs?
    Hello everybody again!

I have a quick question about ivory morphs in the short-tail complex.

New England Reptile Distributors is offering ivory "Black Bloods", which I assume is referring to Python curtus

    http://www.newenglandreptileshop.com...hons-for-sale/

They are very distinctly labeled as separate from the ivory blood python.

However, I thought I had earlier read both from these forums and elsewhere that sumatran short-tails don't have any color morphs aside from an orange-looking "albino", and that "black ivories" are some sort of hybrid.

My questions is; are these ivory black-bloods the same as the "black ivory" hybrids?

I should probably contact them to ask them myself, but I'd also like to ask you guys the same question.

Id love to have a an ivory SSTP, but hybridizing the bloods and short-tails makes me feel... uneasy for some reason.

    I'm confused about it too.
Nevertheless almost all of what I know about the short tails is off the VPI website.
Maybe NERD has an exclusive morph VPI isn't working with?? (I don't recall Ivory in their Sumatran animals)

Still, it is my understanding that "Blood" should not be used to refer to any animal that is Python curtis (or the Borneo, P. brietensteini, for that matter, only P. brongersmai), and that the only "black" short tails are Python curtis.

If you clear it up, maybe you update?
    Thanks.

Frankly, I think a place of NERD's reputation ought to be absolutely clear as to what they are selling!

They are crosses. The ivory/matrix gene is from P. brongersmai, and they are crossed with P. curtus. It really really bothers me seeing those all the time without clarification.
