Scale rot?

My snake just finished his shed and I noticed these discolored scales. The humidity did get a bit to high at times so scale rot is possible. If it is scale rot I have heard that rubbing him down with neosporin will help with the issue. Thanks for the help!!

Cant see your pictures so I dont know what is wrong but, Never use Neosporin on your snakes it will cause the scales to fall off

What helps more is betadine soaks 1:10 concentration. Meaning 1 part betadine to 10 parts warm water (approx. 80f -85f). Soaking in water that only covers the ventral scales is sufficient. The water should be tea colored as another way to gauge the proper concentration. This is by no means a alternative to the proper veterinary consultation and confirmation of the proper diagnosis. If its truly scale rot then it may require alternate or additional treatments. Good luck . :)

Sorry I had read my information wrong. Is Polysporin ok or is that also bad for the snake? I'll keep trying to get the pictures up. Thank you all for your help!

so what is the verdict on neosporin? :confusd: i've read many threads/posts that folks have used it, but the neosporin without painkillers. i haven't had to use any myself, but i would def. like to know.

My understanding is that if you have something like an open wound it's okay to use once or twice, because it seems to do a pretty good job of preventing infection but that you want to be really careful not to overuse it because it can slow down production of new healthy skin and cause scales to fall off due to the oil-base.

Like, I've used it before rehabbing snakes that looked like they had just about been sawed in half but switched it out with betadine after a short time. I wouldn't use it for a snake where the scales were currently intact but just had infection in them though.

EDIT: With the severe injury I was talking about it was definitely a 'vet-needed' situation, but it was a wild snake someone else had found that I was walking them through the rehab process as there were no plans to take it to a vet and it was basically the only way that animal would have had a chance. The snake made a full recovery and was released.
