Bike Riding - Anyone Familiar With Bikes
Question for bike riders. So i like to ride my bike in my free time. sometimes to clear my mind or to exercise. i have two bikes now, a mountain bike and a bike path bike. so i decided to get a new bike this week, a road bike or speed bike, intending to get a ride in durinig lunch breaks at work, and i want one that i can get the distance and speed on. my question though, are road bikes unisex? i'm asking because i've gone to every store in town that sells bikes, they all have road/speed bikes, but they seem to all be for males. by that i mean they are always in the mens bikes section. are they in fact unisex or what?

No, but yes. Or is it? Yes, but no.

There are actual girl models. See the Trek models here. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/collections/womens/road/

However many bikes are unisex so if a bike that is being sold in the mens area fits you then you can ride it. I would say that a girl can ride whatever bike she likes if it properly fits.

Did you ask the employees at the store?

Bikes are unisex, but some manufacturers have women's models. Devinci makes some nice bikes although Trek is probably going to be easier to find in Mississippi.

For tracking distance and speed your smartphone has an app. Garmin Edge 200 is a nice GPS tracker for bikes and you can get more mounts to use it on whichever bike you're riding.

That link has some rather high end bikes. I added it mainly to show that there are girls road bikes. I bet the unisex bikes at your local store will work just as well for you. However the $12K matte black and pink Trek is pretty nice looking.

It must be nice to be able to afford something like that. I wish I had money like that.

yea the prices caught my attention. i cant believe they cost that much. i read that road bikes are expensive, so i was ready for it. or so i thought. one of the stores i visited had road bikes that ranged from $400-$1099.
