    Blood during breeding?
It is my first time breeding and I am just curious if it is normal to see blood smears? I only paired two females with two males but in both tubs, there are small smears of blood. Nothing super scary. I look over everyone and there doesn't seem to have been any fighting. I only paired them like an hour ago. Both males are virgins and so is one female. My five year old has been bred before. Is this normal?

As long as its smeared I think its normal. Most times it comes from the female during intense tail wagging prior to actual copulation and intromission. The blood smears are usually accompanied by urine and the female scent gland secretions. Due to a highly arousal state in the presence of the male. :D

Haven't seen this mentioned before. Good to know. Maybe it should be added to a breeding sticky.

I was worried the first time I saw it too. I watched the next time I put my female with a male and actually watched her scenting and tail wagging and saw that's where it came from. It's normal and alright as long as it's just a smear.

Lol my Mohave female does the same thing. I was worried at the begging but just thought it was a part of the breeding. Looks like I was right!

There is no urine in both cages... still just blood. I came home from work and there doesn't seem to be anymore since the last time I checked over 12 hrs ago, but all four snakes seem okay and all seem very active. I have not witnessed any tail wagging though and I doubt I will see any locks for a while. I had to google that to see what tail wagging was in ball python language:confusd:. One of the females seemed very stressed when I opened the tub though which is not normal for her. Not sure what that means but right now it is more of a learning experience for me. I have done lots of research so hopefully all my hard work works out.
