When I bought my 2 year old male bp 3/4 weeks ago the breeder said that he might not eat for me because males sometimes go off feed during their second winter due to something about mating. He ate a medium mouse for me a week after I got him, but hasnt' eaten since. I thought the mouse was too small for him so I have been trying to feed small rats, but to no avail. he hasn't eaten in about 3 weeks. He's about 3 feet long and maybe inch to inch and a half diameter.
    1) Is it true that males go off feed their second winter?
    2) Should I try to feed him another mouse next time, even though I know its not big enough for him? (or should I feed him 2 mice at one time?)
    Thanks

    1) .... Yes, absolutely true ... what are your temps?

    2) .... Yes ... ask the breeder what he was eating ... some ball pythons are picky eaters ... there is nothing wrong with feeding multiple small meals instead of one large. Also, it may be just enough for him .... don't worry so much about "filling him up", just focus on teaching him to be a consistent eater.

Don't be afraid to ask the breeder questions as well. Most will be more than happy to assist you with your new purchase.
