Thoughts on ball python price for first time owner please
Hello, so I previously made a thread to do with this three year old male BEL that was being sold for $400. It turns out his color is quite yellowed so I'm no longer interested.

My girlfriend and I have also decided that we want to get a hatchling or a very young ball considering we don't plan on breeding at this time. Going through Kijiji we have found a private breeder selling a very nice 2 month female lemonblast for $100.

Wouldn't this be considered a good deal? I see adult female lemonblasts going for $300-400. I've also heard that lemonblasts can breed some awesome morphs.

I'd attach photos of her but I cant find out how.

when you get sub 250 dollars morphs the prices get pretty blurred, might see lemonblast going for 50 buck might see them for 200. just depends on quality and how badly the breeder wants to move the animal.

I think $100 is a fair price for a lemon blast female but quality will play a big part. If its already starting to brown out it then don't buy just to get a deal

It's often been said that one should "shop the snake, not the price". Obviously, you have to stay within your means...but the real trick to a "good deal" is finding the snake you REALLY want...one that you fall in love with....and that is still within your means and willingness to pay. THAT is a good deal. ;)

I've seen a lots of people getting "good deals". Usually, its new or inexperienced breeders building a collection. They'll buy everything they can find that's inexpensive. They sacrifice quality for quantity. There is however a big difference between a good deal and an inexpensive purchase. A good deal depends on the individual. Does the animal make the pet owner happy? Does it work for a breeders plans? A good deal is one that works for you. I can find an inexpensive, beautiful axanthic ball python for a low price. Only probem is I don't work with the any axanthic projects. So really, I'd end up needing more axanthic animals too.

I remember when those costed big money. Bananas too. I am seeing them for sale for like $200 bucks. I remember a few years ago or less they were in the thousands.

Exactly. I've been guilty of pouncing on a good deal from time to time. At least in my case they were! Or at least I think so, and I suppose that's all that should matter. If the Lemonblast is something that you would like to have in your collection and you like her I say go for it.

Best bet is to try and do research on the breeders talk to them, ask them a million and one questions. I researched for two months about different breeders and animal pricing for the exact morph I wanted to buy in my price range.
