    Temp help!
Back at the questions again.. SO I just moved about a half hour away from my old house. Move went fine and I have a 20 gallon long tank for my guy. I have a heat mat connected to a herpstat 1. The hot side is 92F but the cold side shows 72-74F. Im using a acurite thermometer from walmart. Is this ambient temp too low? If so how can I raise it. Its only a 20 gallon long so I dunno why the heat isn't retaining.. Please help! thank you for reading

A uth isnt going to do anything for ambient/tank temps outside of the imediate area its touching, uth/heat mate is only for giving belly heat they wontwarm the tank or air up... you either need to raise the ambient temp of the room or get a heat light with prefferaby a che so you dont have to worry about randomly replacing blown bulbs

You could start with placing the enclosure in a room that you can close off the A/C vent and go from there.

    ^^^^^^^^

This can make all the difference.

This is how I play with temps a lot. In fact, I just had to do the opposite and open up the A/C vents because of too much heat with my new enclosures.

Okay so I now have a infrared heat lamp connected to the middle of the screen. Im planning on running it almost 24/7 besides a period for the bulb to cool off. The acurite is in the left corner of the cage near the cold hide. It reads 76 now for the cold side temp. When I just hit it with a temp gun, the cage in the middle was around 80-82 and the cold hide inside is around 79-80. The area by the acurite showed 75ish. Is this all perfect temps or should I up the wattage of the bulb? currently sitting at a 50w bulb. Thanks again for the wonderful feedback.
