    Frozen Rodent Suppliers
What's the best frozen rodent supplier? Getting tired of going to the pet store every few weeks just to come back a few weeks later. And is buying in bulk a bad idea if you don't have a large collection?

I hear ya, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Cheaper and easier. Minus the one live rat I have to get... Pain in the butt!

I always bought as much as I could stuff my freezer with when I had only two small baby corn snakes and my boa. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration. Not really a large collection then but the closest place for me to get "good" "cheaper" feeders is two hours away. I usually bought enough to hold the snakes for two and half months. Snakes grow quickly and having left over stock was something I wanted to avoid so it wasn't like I bought enough for the year.

I am not really sure where you are located but I by mine from Canadian Mouse Man who is from Medicine Hat AB.

I've used Big Cheese for a couple of years now and I'm very happy with them. Their prices, packaging and quality of feeders are all great. I highly recommend them.

I've always had good service with Big Cheese, too. This is from their FAQs (I don't know where you're located):

Do you ship feeder rodents internationally?Yes, we do ship rodents internationally, but some restrictions apply. Please call our sales office at 817-926-3300 for more information.

Also from their FAQs, since you said you have a small collection:

How long will the frozen feeder animals last in the freezer? Our rodents have a shelf life up to 2 years when completely sealed in our Cryovac bags.

You could always make a bulk order and then just open one Cryovac bag at a time and transfer the rodents from the bag you open to a Ziploc bag, then use as needed. That's what I've been doing and haven't had any issues with freezer burn or anything. :)

I'm trying them for my current order. Can't say I'm at all impressed by their shipping. Not even next day. Still waiting on it from the 8th and there's at least another day predicted so I hope it's sealed up well.

FWIW, I use rodentpro.com and have nothing but good experiences with them. They always have what I need in stock too.

It will be fine. They package very well with good insulation and a good amount of dry ice. They use ground shipping which is why their shipping is cheap. I have used them for a while, now. I once ordered from them forgetting about a weekend trip that I had planned, and, because of my poor planning, the shipment arrived on the Friday of our departure, a few hours after our flight, of course. When we returned on Monday, they were still frozen solid after sitting on my porch for 3 days.

You should be fine Fox. Their packaging is pretty good. I don't know of any suppliers that ship standard overnight but you may be able to request it at an additional cost. My orders usually take 2-3 days to arrive but the feeders are always still frozen solid.
