Feed frozen/thawed problem

Sorry if this is gross. Starting 4 weeks ago my bp refused her meal then the next week also. So I thought it wasn't hot enough. So the last two times I forgot to take it out the night before so I just took it out let it air dethaw. Then in a zip lock bag I had it in a 160 degree water for about 7 mins and the guts come out of it. What an I doing wrong?

You are boiling it. LoL
Water is too hot.

160*F is too hot and will cause the skin to cook which makes it more likely to tear under pressure. Some keepers have found this out the hard way when their snake constricts the feeder and it explodes. :O

I thaw mine in the fridge overnight and then warm up in 105-110*F water for feeding.

Agreed with above. Once you have it thawed....squishy all the way through you can just soak in less hot water. Also, when you think you have it just give it a squeeze like those stress balls....if the eyes bug out and it pops in your hand the water was to hot. :D

I just take mine out in the morning, leave them aside in a bag on the counter and feed when I get home from work. You might not work from 11am to 2am like I do but it works for me, lol.

Since you're taking it out overnight put it in like 95 degree water

Depends on the feeder. Anything up to small rats I give 30 minutes, maybe longer. Large/jumbo rats, or rabbits could be over an hour. Rabbits especially take a while as their fur is a good insulator.

Once I think it's ready I hold it for about 30 seconds and make sure there's no sudden cooling off to indicate the inside of the feeder is still cold.

What I do is thaw out over night, and put them in front of a hair dryer for a minute or so. Heat lamps works also just to apply some heat to get the snake interested.
