    Quick question !!
I know I have posted many forums but being a new owner, I have lots of questions and you all are the pros! So my ball python is now around 5 months old. He's male and has always been smaller since I got him. He feeds voraciously and has so far shown he is in great health and is a happy little guy. Knowing all this, at five months he is only 160g. Is this concerning or is he just a smaller guy at the moment? Just wanna make sure he's as happy as he looks! thanks for looking.:gj:

What and how often are you feeding?

    Re: Quick question !!
I am currently feeding with the 10-15% rule based on his weight. He gets 2 rat pinkies around 10g each every 5 days

Sounds ok. I never follow that percentage rule. I just go with what looks appropriate size wise. Does it look like he can take a bigger prey item?

I don't really follow that rule either.
Are you feeding 2 smaller pinks or larger?
I personally would feed one fuzzy rat every 5 to 7 days.

Honestly I have tried to give him 3 pinkies and he only took 2 so I think he's happy with 2 at the moment. I'll be moving him up size soon to pups

Is there such thing as a "runt" ball python? Could this be him and he's perfectly fine?

i don't follow the percentage rule. i go by girth.

does your BP constrict the pinkies? you can move him up slowly if u want. but at 160grams i'm sure your BP can take hoppers.

Can you post a picture of him next to a quarter or next to the size pinky that you feed him?
