My first boa

Hey so I just got my first boa and I could not be more stoked! She was born earlier this year, and I've had her for about a week and I have a few questions. I have had balls but never a boa, she has eaten once since I've had her, she has two hides and the temps are good, but she is submerging her self under the substrate, sometimes fully some times partially. Is this normal behaviour? I've seen my ball burry him self slightly but never fully. Any info would be awesome! Thanks! Also here is a pic of her.

Yeah nothing to worry about, my BCI did this as a baby to subadult age. He especially loved fresh EcoEarth bedding.

Baby boas seem more secure on loose bedding than carpet, paper towels, etc. When my girl was lil she wouldn't even poop on anything but aspen or similar safe beddings. Lol!

Yep just like Cloud said, its normal.

It's actually comforting for them when younger. However if you want to see her more often, use a thinner layer and just pack it down a bit.

You can expect them to be a bit shy and that's just fine. They get confident rather quickly, but I dealt with probably 3-4 weeks of little strikes and posturing.

Thanks for the info everyone! I kinda thought it might be normal but I thought I would ask! Yeah she's pretty good so far, a few little strikes but she calms right down. I'm limiting my handling as she's stilling settling in, but I'd still like to start gaining some familiarity. Thanks again everyone!

By the way, that boa has excellent shape to it. Don't get caught up in the "get big fast" game. That nice laterally compressed body is the sign of a lean, healthy BC.

You have a nice looking morph there.

thank you, I have no plans of breeding her, she is strictly a pet so I'm in no rush, healthy is always best!
