Albino BCI Baby - What is wrong with her scales?
    Hello,

I was just checking my Albino BCI tonight and noticed she has some weird rough patches. I don't see any insects or debris indicating mites (though I've never seen them in person before, so maybe I don't know what I'm looking for). I just found it late tonight and thought I'd get some opinions and I can take her to the vet hopefully tomorrow if needed.

    Thank you.

It really doesn't look like anything vet-necessary. Did she have a bad shed, or could she have gotten a (very) minor burn (from UTH or heat lamp)?

Looks like just a bit of dirt, grime, rodent blood, poo. Can probably wipe it off with a wet paper towel.

Keep a eye on it and make sure it doesn't spread. Triple check the enclosure as well as all your husbandry numbers. Make sure you are cleaning the enclosure floor well and getting those urates out. :) Good luck. Hope it's minor.

Hello everyone, and thank you for the responses. Today is cleaning day so I'm going to see if I can't wipe off whatever it is. Here are a few more pictures of her. She was sold to me as a lipstick albino Kahl line. I don't have the eye to know whether or not that appears to be true. In the second photo, there is some darkness around her eye, so I checked on her again last night after taking the pictures, and I don't see it in person, so it seems it is just the photo. She is very lovely, curious, and outgoing. My other BCI - a yearing hypo - is far more shy and reserved.

Could be humidity-related, looks like the tips of the scales are bending inwards, I notice this and the vertical lines in my BCI when the humidity is in a dry spell. I aim for 70-80% humidity with them, although I do let the humidity go through cycles to prevent mold and let them experience different levels of humidity.

Great looking animal, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have found that I seem to always think something is wrong with the scales of my albinos, much more than darker color morphs. I think that subtle deviations in scales are just more easily seen in lighter snakes.
