Re: Tubs for Mice rack !
Im pretty sure people use the disposable kitty litter pans from walmart or Target.
Something like this
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Iris-Cat-L...-Navy/35816942
Although the ones I've seen locally are light blue, and have perfectly straight sides, with squared off corners. Aka no chewing.
This looks better

I've used the kitty litter pans before and they work pretty well but the small ones also don't hold many mice. Mice will chew on anything that offers an edge, you need something that is completely smooth on the inside. Dish water pans also work well if you can find one short enough.

We use vision V35 short tubs. No edges to chew, cleans easy, holds a decent amount of mice, has a handle on the front. The only big con is price, but after almost 2 years we haven't had to replace any. The cat litter pans we were replacing them 5-6 a month between them breaking and the edges wearing out.

Tubs need to be completely flat NO roves or edges, so the first one linked will not work.
Many of us used litter pans however over the years designs have changed.
V18 and V35 S can make great tubs for mice.
As for cat littler pans the only place I have seen that still sells flat bottom and groves or edges free litter pans is Publix.
Ideal heights is about around 3 inches or so.

Thx Alot Deb :)
was about to buy this one

but now im getting the V-18 for breeding and V-35s for growing colonies !

Lowe's sells concrete mixing tubs for IIRC $5 each that are smooth, sturdy, and on the big side. I have a few I use in the chicken house, but have thought that they might work for mice when I get some.
IMO, worth checking out. They should long outlast the dish and litter pans.
