    Spider Yellow Belly Help
I want to get into Yellow Belly but am intimidated by identifying the Yellow Belly gene. I'm looking into this Spider Yellow Belly girl. What makes her Yellow Belly? Flames on her sides?

A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth... um... more. :)

As far as IDing YBs goes, I've had my fair share of practice this season. 2 clutches worth so far and another one that's cooking right now. I can say with confidence that it's a learned skill - especially when you're combining it with other awesome enhancing genes like Enchi and Fire like I did! :P Single and double gene YBs are pretty easy to pick out in hatchlings, but the more genes you combine on top of it, the harder it is to identify (just like many other genes though really).

EDIT: Forgot to add - your Spider YB is a great example of how YB should pop. Nice specimen to learn from! :gj:

Don't be intimidated. I've got a 17 yb and yb combos in my collection. That doesn't include the babies that have been produced and been sold. Like Eric Allen said, its a learned skill. There are plenty of references to help. This site, Youtube, at shows. Look at as many ybs as you can. That spider is a nice looking animal. If you're getting her from a reputable breeder, I'd say its safe. Some of the tell tale yb signs do get lost in combos. Generally speaking, the yb will make colors more vibrant than a similar morph. That is a nice looking girl though. The YB gene is a personal favorite.

Thank you for the advice, Bigfish. Yes, it is a girl I'm considering buying and thought she did look more yellow than typical spiders, but other than that I wasn't too sure what I'm looking for.

No problem at all. Ah yeah, Don't let the yellowbelly fool you either. They don't necessarily have yellow bellies. Rather a speckling on the sides of the belly with a clean, typically white belly. That can change with other combos.
