ve200d what should I do for my ball python

OK so I bought a ve200d kinda of a goof up on my part as its a dimming proportional an all I run is heat tape or heat Mat question I have Is should I just use it as an on/off thermostat or keep it as dimming

Not understanding your problem?? It will run any heat source.
Yes, the dimming would be better than on/off setting.

A proportional thermostat is preferred by most BPs owners. This thermostat has a choice between proportional OR using an on/off feature. It also has a probe that reads higher so (example) bearded dragon owners know and can regulate temperatures.

The only "goof" I can see is that you may have spent a bit more money on a better quality product than you may have needed. Not a bad thing at all.

I'm using a VE100 on my current tank set up and don't really care for the on/off type thermostat. I get about a 4-6 degree fluctuation as it will bounce back and forth from 88-93F in my hot spot of my UTH. My new T8 I'll be using a herpstat1 to control RHP and hopefully it will be more stable at holding at a constent temp.

On-offs are just that. They heat to point "x" and then cool to point "y". Others adjust the power output to stay at set temp.

The VE300 $139 is the one I'm looking at.
From the specs, I don't know if the alarm is optional (I don't like electronic alarms), and even for that price, you only get one set of temps to work with. I'll have to buy another if I get a second, different type of snake, with other temp requirements.

I just always used a pulse proportional on my racks but this ball python is in a cage and on dimming proportional I thought it might be better using just on an off there Is a 3 degree fluctuation from the temp set
