I have started helping out at my friend's pet store. Yesterday my boyfriend and I helped her get a whole load of tropical and saltwater fish into their tanks. She was really busy and appreciated out helping.
It is really cool to be able to work with even more animals than I have at home.
She does not have any ball pythons at the store right now, but I'll work on that. :) Reptile keeping actually seems to be getting more popular in our little rural corner of the globe. I overhear many people talking about either having, or getting, various herps. Beardies are actually the most popular thing around here, this one couple even breeds them (that's where ours came from.) Our friend specialized in fish originally, but more and more reptiles keep turning up on her shelves. :)

She does let us make payments on big things, like our 125g tank. :)

That AND a discount would rock! ;)

She does give us a pretty good discount; she'll order us things and then sell them to us "at cost." Her prices in general are really low; she's the main store in our town, so she really could bump up the prices if she wanted, but she would rather keep the low-price thing going for now. There is another store in town, but the lady who owns it is pretty rude and always tries to make you go out the door with some kind of animal you never intend on buying!
The payment plans are nice, but then again the whole situation makes us spend more money! But I figure we don't have kids, we don't go out drinking or anything like that, so this is our fun. :)
