First time snake keeper, have a couple questions
I have a one month old BP, just got him yesterday, I know all the basics but I have a few questions I couldn't find definite answers to. First, he likes to just curl up out in the open a lot (I have him in a 20 long glass with a screen lid) he still uses his hides and is pretty active but most of the time I find him out in the middle of the tank sorta curled up but not in a ball. Is this a good sign? Does it mean he feels safe? Second, should I be expecting a shed soon? Like I said he's a month old and really healthy, well fed. I have a scale but I haven't weighed him yet because he just ate yesterday(I'll weigh him in a couple hours and post his weight) I know young snakes usually shed every month but I don know if that applies to a snakes first shed.
Thanks in advance for any info!

If your snake stops eating or has rapid changes in attitude that is when you want to address stress issues.
Re: First time snake keeper, have a couple questions
Congrats on your new BP. Sounds like you're off to a good start. As long as your husbandry is dialed in your snake should thrive. If you want an accurate weight for your snake it's usually best to weigh them after they've expelled their most recent meal. If he ate yesterday I'd let him poop in a few days before weighing him. Hope you'll share pics soon. Best wishes.
Re: First time snake keeper, have a couple questions
Thanks so much! Glad to hear I'm doing everything ok:) I will definetly try to get some pics soon! He's a squirmy little guy:D I have one question about weight if you don't mind: do you know what about the correct weight would be for a month old BP? I got him from a good reptile store so I'm pretty positive he's not over or underfed, but it can't hurt to be sure! Thanks again

this is him. Sorry I don't know if the link will work right it's difficult doing this on a phone. Forgive me for photo quality and lighting. I'm getting an app soon that will hopefully actually post pics if that link doesn't work
