How to bandage the tip of a tail?
So my biggest girl, my 2 year old BCI, shed her tail prematurely. Just the tip, everything else shed a week later in a big healthy piece. The tip of her tail is a bit rough and red (it bled a little when she shed and was sticky). My natural instinct was to clean it with warm water and gentle soap, apply triple antibiotic ointment and put on a waterproof band-aid. This has really helped the healing process. However the bandages won't stay on and I'm afraid to have the bit of her tail exposed so soon because I don't want a skin infection or for it to be rubbed raw while she crawls. Advice on how to bandage it? What about gauze and medical tape? Thanks.

Skip the bandaging and goopy ointments, apply Vetericyn instead. It's a water-based gel so once it dries it stays in place and stuff doesn't stick to it.

The more important question is why did her tail shed first? Was it stuck shed from the prior time?

I think she scraped it. As far as I know, she's never had left over sheds stuck to her tail
