Did she reabsorb her eggs or did she just get finished building/ovulating?
Hey, sorry this is my first time trying to breed my ball pythons. I tried to pair two ball pythons one named Lucy, the other Charlie. I have been keeping a breeding schedule on google docs.
They first locked on June 16th, then again on July 2nd.
Lucy showed many signs of developing behavior, started curling up in her water bowl which I have never seen her do on July 6th, she also stopped eating.
On July 22nd she denied Charlie and they didn't lock.
July 30th Lucy went from being super huge and swollen to looking thinner, I paired her with Charlie again and she denied him.
August 8th Lucy Shed
August 12th I paired her with Charlie again and she is showing her usual interests in breeding IE tail wagging.
During all of this she hasn't been eating? :( Never had her do this for so long. She last ate on the 25th of June.
So I'm confused did she reabsorb her eggs or did she just ovulate and may be on her way to becoming pregnant? I didn't see her lump up, but she got pretty dang huge. I also didn't see her tail kink and so I thought maybe it wasn't ovulation but just building? Now she looks smaller and back to her usual self. She only lost a little bit of weight from not eating and is at 1470 grams.

I'm going to give this a bump, because I'm in a similar situation and am curious to see what the pros have to say.

Ditto^^^^^^ I'm curious and in a similar situation. :)

I was surprised by how my BPs looked after ovulating. It was hard to imagine them full of eggs, especially as many as they ended up having! They didn't look "stuffed", and right before they laid their spines became more prominent, which made them seem thinner. Congrats on your upcoming clutch! :)

Yay! Thanks so much for the response. :) I was a little worried since she went from being HUGE to what seems like maybe a little bigger than normal. I'm looking forward to some ball python babies. Fingers crossed for some blue eyed leucys. :please:
