Boob eggs: Do you give them a chance? Photos inside.
This is my second season mixing up my little buddies. Four clutches out so far. My second clutch had nine eggs. Two slugs, two boobs, and five good eggs. After removing the slugs, I candled everybody and they all have veins.

Here they all are on day one

The two boobs are top left and bottom left

Two weeks later, the bottom left boob looks about the same. The top left though, is starting to discolor.

I can, however, still see veins. The egg is discolored, but it doesn't appear to be rotting or molding. It doesn't really have a distinct smell.

What is your experience with boob eggs like this? Have any success? Any photos?

Footnote. These eggs came from the 2011 Bailey Reptiles clutch contest on here :snake:

The top three look like slugs, so there would be no chance for them hatching at all. The bottom one has a chance of surviving, the hatchling is usually smaller though.

Edit: didn't read the full description at first. But that one would just bout still have me saying its a slug by how it's miscolored from the rest, in the first picture. Unless there's a lighting issue. To me it appears off-yellow and I would have said it is/was a slug.

There is sort of a lighting issue. The 'shadow' actually the edge of the boob part. About 60% of the egg is 'normal'

As far as experience, I have none. But from being one here for years I've read many success stories with bomb eggs. They would hatch out smaller then the rest of the clutch, but they would be amazing snakes and well worth the wait. Just treat that egg the same as the rest.

Yes, I always incubate all types of abnormal/odd shaped eggs because I've had them produce a healthy (tiny) baby!

Everything goes in an egg tub around here, except for definite slugs. You might be surprised at how nature finds a way - misshapen, undersized, moldy eggs can still hatch healthy babies.

Good to hear. The veins are VERY faint and mostly around the boob part strangely. Both are showing some mold. They kind of stink. Haven't given up yet. :snake:

Make sure if you can wipe the mold off to clean it. It's best to try and clean the mold off instead of letting it produce more

So the egg with less boob ended up rotting out after a short time.

The other boob egg I let go full term as I saw veins. The mold was getting worse as time went on, but it was an interesting experiment.

In the end the other boob was filled with firm (read: solid) white/yellow stuff. Almost like a hard boiled egg. I couldn't identify anything remotely snakelike in there.

The other five babies are pipping and look good.
