bp owner wants a pet millipede
so I'm getting a millipede, or so I want to. I just think they're so cool. I have several snakes at my place right now including my girlfriends boa constrictor cause we're living together. but I know that millipedes have a chummy relationship with mites and that they actually help each other out... the mites keep the millipedes exoskeleton clean or something like that.
my question is would a millipede be an okay pet to have with all my snakes? I wouldn't house them together or anything, obviously. but what kind of mites exactly do millipedes have? could it spread to my snakes? like I'm so confused please lemme know if you know anything about this whole thing. the last thing I want is my girls to catch mites. :(

These aren't snake mites hanging around eating crumbs and feces from the pedes, you're safe in that regard.

Yep. There are upwards of 40,000 species of mites. Only one species, Ophionyssus natricis, is a problem for snakes and other reptiles, and they won't be found on anything else.
