    need advice in choosing tubs
What is the better choice? A clear/semi-clear plastic tub? Or a colored one? Specifically the black colored ones.

Personally, I prefer the clear sided ones so that I can keep an eye on my snakes and make sure everything is okay without completely disturbing them. Only time I've used the fully opaque tub was when I had super stressed blood python hatchlings, and when I took in a snake that a local acquaintance was worried about because he had been off food for so long and lost quite a bit of weight.

I have used the greenish Rubbermaid ones from walmart before with success. But personally I think the best bet is the clear sterilite or iris tubs.

I like sterilite tubs. They aren't quite clear, but they aren't totally opaque. That way, I keep take a peek at them without disturbing them.

I prefer the semi transparent Vision tubs, they have flat bottoms and I can see if there is condensation inside the tub. I would guess it's harder to see condensation inside a black tub.

Thanks a lot guys! I've made up my mind. I'm gonna go for the clear tub,I'll just put a nice
Snug hide so that my bp will feel safe and secure.. Can't wait to finally get my very first snake!!. :taz:

Honestly I never have given hides to my breeder bps in the past. Even hatchlings and juveniles seemed to do just fine without one. This was using an opaque tub in a fully enclosed rack.

In a stand alone tub a hide would be a good idea though. Not sure if I missed it, but I wasn't sure if this was a stand alone tub or part of a rack system.

It's a stand alone tub that i'll be putting inside my room.. That's why I'm considering to use a hide box for the snake to be less stressed out. Or if it decides to hide because of the bright light in my room when I'm reading..if I try to not use a hide, then
I could just put a piece of cloth over the tub to cover up the top and sides.. So that I can still have a look at it at the front.. :)

This is what I do with my stand-alone tubs, it's easy enough to cover them with a towel, piece of newspaper, etc.

With a stand-alone also pick one that has a secure lid! IMO that's more important than clear vs opaque.
