    PVC Enclosures
I think I'm going to order (2) AP T-8's for my bull snakes. They ship a lot quicker than the T-10's and my bulls don't climb much anyway so I can live without the extra 3 inches of height that the T-10 offers. Quick question though. I've never used the flexwatt heat tape and prefer to use UTH's. Will the ultratherm UTH's get hot enough to create an appropriate hot spot of 85 or so through 1/2" of pvc? If not, I believe the zoo-med uth's get a bit hotter. Do any of you all use UTH's with your PVC enclosures? TIA for any input.

I have a stack of the T8's and have under-tank heat with all of them. The hot spots get up to 85-86*F just fine but I'm running Dums and BRB's in them. They probably could go higher, I just haven't tried it.

Their prior owner kept BP's in them and he also didn't have any issues.

Thanks BCR, which UTH are you using?

I have some vision cages with zoomed mats on them...when I was testing them out unregulated it got to 110 so no issues with those heating to the proper temps when hooked up to a TStat.

I'm using 12" wide heat tape but any heat pad should work just fine. PVC isn't a great insulator so the heat generated by the pad should go straight through.

On a related note, how do you like those T-8's bcr? I went with them instead of the T-10's because my colubrids don't climb that much and the 8's were less expensive and shipped a lot faster. I'll add a T-10 once my new carpet grows a bit.

I like them and they have the dividers. I have juvenile Dumeril's boas on one side and Brazilian Rainbow Boas on the other since they have the same basic heat requirements. I have the sliding doors on mine and the side with the door on the inside track (left side) stays a lot more humid than the other side. So BRB's on the left and Dums on the right.
