    So I have been through YouTube, the boa forum and all over trying to get answers and an understanding to a few questions concerning Under the Tank Heating (UTH). I see in most cases people rave about pvc or anything other than glass is the way to go. No offense to those still using glass tanks but, with that said what are the thicknesses of your various enclosures and how are u applying UTH on anything over 3/8 thick. Will the heat from a mat still pennetrate is my concern or will I have to install a plexi cover inside the cage that is much thinner? Also I'm a bit concerned to know who goes without using UTH and why?

    The cages I make are 1/4 inch hdpe and I heat with heat tape and have no problems with heat at all... Pvc cages are 10000000 times better than throwing money and tinfoil at FISH tanks..... Radiant heat panels are often uses in these types of cages. They work great and last a long time....

    Heat will eventually penetrate any thickness material, if your room isn't too cold. The issue arises when a room is too cold, which causes the enclosure material to cool faster than it can warm up. If your UTH is set to 90 degrees, for example, then your enclosure should eventually warm to 90 degrees also. However, if your room is only 68 degrees, for example, then the enclosure may not warm to 90 degrees because it is cooling off faster than it can warm up.
