Christmas Gift

I'm going to buy my brother his first snake and I narrowed it down to 2.Cali King OR Black rat snake.Most of you know what happened to my corn snake,and he is sensitive abou that,so I don't want to buy him a corn snake.Tell me what you think.

well iwould say ratsnake but that might be basically like a corn

What if you got a different morph/color corn? If not a corn what about a Mexican Black Kingsnake? I think they're great first time snakes!
