Cake freshly shed AND new camera.
Aw yiss. Cake shed this week! And he ate a mouse 2 days ago, and I took him out today. I also bought a new DSLR in addition to my old one... Nikon d7000! I used an old-school Canon before for about 14 years. It is time for an update to this portrait-specializing lens and body.

His colors are SO vibrant and such contrast in real life after shedding. These photos honestly do him no justice. :P

I also thought it would be a neat idea to take a picture of myself WITH Cake around my neck every 2 months until he reaches adult size to record his growth, instead of just using a weight scale! Then the record is visibly clear on how large he is getting relative to me, and not just by his onesie self in a lonely photo.

So... aw yiss, first photo of tiny Cake barely around my neck.

Great photos! Cake looks fabulous with his new paint job. That's a cool idea for recording his growth too. :)

I love progression threads! The idea of taking pictures with him around your neck for recording growth is awesome, I'm excited to see them :D

The high contrast is really nice! Invest in a fast lens (low f stop number) for your camera. I use a Canon Rebel and have two lenses that I really like for snake pictures. The first is a Canon 50 mm f1.4, which on a cropped sensor camera is closer to a 75 mm lens. It is really good for taking pictures of babies and more artistic shots (when you want to get the bokeh, or background blur). The lens I have been using the most with my camera is a Sigma 17-50 mm f2.8 lens. The wide angle side of the lens with a large aperture produces some great pictures. Enjoy your guy and new camera!

Wow the contrast on that second photo is awesome, I'm not the biggest fan of Albino's but that one could sway me! :gj::gj::gj:

Hard to believe it, but Cake looks even better than he did in his intro pics :gj:

    Cake!

I didn't reply on his intro thread, but I can't pass up an opportunity to say how gorgeous he is! He looks even more adorable since he's shed.
