Today,I bought Dirk a rubbermaid that has more floor space than his 20 gallon.I also bought him an accurite thermometer after my mom read SatanicIntention's post on the "Housing" thread.(Thank you SatanicIntention :) )I also bought Trox some mealworms instead of crickets, crickets were such a hassle.I feel like a good snake owner!

Ok,my accurite is telling me my basking temps are 97.3.Is this too high?It looks like its starting to gradually slow down, though. My Ambient temps are 78.5 or something like that.

Where are you measuring the temperatures from? Do you have the probe and the digital unit on/under the substrate for accurate temp readings? If so, then yeah 97 is a bit high. It's recommended to keep the temperatures under 95.

The way I measure my temps is I have two digital thermometers and I have a probe under each hide so I know what the exact temps of the hides are. Then I have the base unit near the middle of the tank for the ambient humidity reading.

If you can get the temps to 90 warm and 80 cool you'll be set. 8)
