Normal x GHI/puma/firefly clutch questions
Greetings fellow herpers!!!
I had my first royal python when I was 15, had some more later on which I have sold. Recently I bought a neonate 1.0 normal that I want to breed and try my hand on that subject. He was the result of a Normal x GHI/puma/firefly clutch and here are my questions: 1) Is my 1.0 normal a het? 2) If it is, is it a Het for GHI, puma or firefly? Any help will be appreciated.
Re: Normal x GHI/puma/firefly clutch questions
Ok, so theres not a chance that If I breed her with a puma or firefly I'll end up with some pythons of those genes?
Re: Normal x GHI/puma/firefly clutch questions
Ok, Because the normal gene is more dominant than any other gene so the probability is it will mask whatever I breed her with. It makes sense. And yes I have a lot to learn, is my first time researching the subject. Thanks for the help!!!! Appreciate it a lot!!

The normal gene is not "more dominant" than another gene. Nor will it mask another gene. Either your snake has a gene and expresses them (ie visual morphs like pastel, Mojave etc) or it does not (ie normal)
The only exception to this is in genes that are recessive such as pied or albino. A normal looking snake may then carry the gene but the gene will only be expressed in its offspring if it is bred to another carrier of the gene.
I definitely suggest forget thinking about breeding your snake for the time being to take advantage of all the information this forum and the Internet have to offer.
Re: Normal x GHI/puma/firefly clutch questions
is male, hence 1.0, and thats why im asking questions about the subject and not breading at all....plus, I said is a neonate, he came out of the egg the first of july, the hatchery still has him until he grows a bit. I know I have to wait at least for him to be sexually mature (+-1 year) or be 800g from what I've read to breed him. Im just asking guys, Thats why I started this topic since google isn't so trustworthy...all the help is appreciated and all of you have been very help-full.
