    My ultimate carpet cage.
I've been waiting on this for a while. I absolutely love the semi arboreal qualities of the morelia species and I decided a display cage would be a fine way to show off my coastal. She could be coastal/jungle, coastal/diamond or coastal/darwin. I'm not sure and don't really care. I know the mother is 10 feet long and the father is is over 8 feet long.

I bought this cage from Ed Lilley who breeds carpets and runs Constrictors Northwest. He is also the maker of Pro-line cages. The cage is 48" x 24" x 24". Perfect for the carpet. Some of the ledges project as far as 10" into the cage.

I bought a heavy duty 3D ledge background with this and have set up 4 perches. 2 are natural and 2 are thick dowels with vines wrapped around them.

The snake doesn't use hides much and will spend about 50% of her time perched once the night hours hit.

    I really enjoy this setup.

That is quite the ultimate for sure Gio, my hat is off to you!

Functional decorating is top notch too, love the lighting! :)

I had plans for that size for my Boa. I did not have the awesome plans like you did. In fact, I had a preorder in with a local guy to make one that size. When I went to order, the guy was no where to be found. Turns out he is in jail! :O

May have worked out for me in a way. I put the Boa in a larger temp tank and she has no interest in being arboreal. So now I'm thinking 48 x 24 x 14,16, or 18.

My Carpet is the same, no interest in arboreal, so I may do the same for her.

Awesome looking setup Gio. You decorated it very nicely. What substrate are you using?

    Thanks,

The sub is cypress. I find it the easiest to work with. I also like the coco husk, but it tends to get all over the place. I have aspen as well, but I prefer the humidity capabilities the first two provide.

    I've not tried bark yet.

I'll add a few more with the snake perched.

Morelia of all species are semi arboreal. If provided with "options" you'll see some behaviors from them that they won't preform if caged without perches and ceiling.

She has been up in her perches since last evening.

    Thanks for looking.
