    My First Breeding Experience
Hi everyone, I've been visiting this site for quite some time but never had any reason to post up until now!

Last fall I started pairing my champagne ringer male to a normal girl with the hopes of producing more ringer champagne babies. The female laid 9 eggs, but two went bad. I actually had to move the eggs for a six hour car ride during the middle of incubation, so I was happy with the 7 surviving eggs. I completely missed the odds and hit only one champagne and six normals, but this was my first breeding season, so I was just really happy to produce some healthy babies. I have big plans for next season!

Anyways, here is a picture of the sire and dam locking.

And here is a full clutch shot right after they came out of the eggs a few days ago (they're in shed now). The champagne has a couple of small ringers. Several of the normals are really banded and almost enchi-like, and one has a ringer. The dam was previously paired with an orange dream male so I was almost wondering if a couple of the babies were orange dreams, but I think they are just interesting normals. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for looking!

Congratulations on your first clutch! Even when the odds aren't in your favor, seeing those baby heads poking out of eggs never gets old.

So I talked to the breeder who had the normal girl before me and he confirmed that she had locked with an orange dream several times and ended up not laying last year. He also thought some of my "normals" looked like orange dreams but wasn't positive. I'll update with pictures of them post-shed, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Nice clutch and it looks like the one normal has a ringer, so you hit that.
