Which way should I orientate the heat tape?
Front to back on one side or length wise?http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...6f113eedad.jpg

Would I be better off doing back heat?

I'm hoping it maintains proper temps in a 70 degree room.

This. If you want back heat you'll have to put a back panel onto the rack, which isn't a big deal.

Also a warning for racks with the tubs that go in longways like yours, sometimes the snakes can push hard enough in the middle of the long side to escape.

I'm putting a back on it once it's wired, I'm just not sure how to run the heat where it will heat it up enough in a 70 degree room.

As far as escaping goes, I realized this and came up with a fix. I attached a clip to the front of the rack as seen in the picture below. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06...b709ad2305.jpg

I would go belly heat. Run just one strand looped through the rack much safer imo

What animal are you housing in that rack? If you want bp adults in it, I would say front to back. If you are keeping anything else back heat would be ok.

I'm housing adults and sub adults. Once I have baby snakes I will get a hatchling rack.

I am looking to add a baby boa in the mix.

In reality I am going to have

    three ball pythons
    Baby boa
King snake ( might setup a display terrarium instead)

Cant be done in that rack when running front to back. You would not be able to pull out every other tub.

You would be correct. The way the rack is setup it must be wierd individually
