    Higher then normal ambient temps?
We're in the midst of a crazy heatwave and of all times for my AC to start capping out, it does it now. I got em on belly heat at 90-91° but the ambient temp in my room is hitting like 86°. I know some breeders just keep their room at that sort of temperature but I'm not sure if I should kill the belly heat til I get a new AC? Or am I gunna be good til then?

    I'd definitely shut it off.

Bp will do everything it needs to do at 80. I think 86 is a bit too warm.

I would also shut off the belly heat if the ambient is in the mid-80's. If it goes higher than that then you can make "redneck A/C" by putting a frozen bottle of water in front of a fan during the hottest part of the day. Just don't point the fan directly at any of your racks or your snakes could end up too cold.

Word thanks for the help. I think I'm going to kill the heat tape during the day and turn it back on at night til I can find me a new AC

Thanks for this response. Im in the same boat, my ac went out and the rack doesn't want to go below 85 even when herpstat says 77. I shut it off and am going to monitor them daily until I get my ac fixed.
