When is it time to get a bigger tank?
My ball is 10 months as of now;
He feeds on large mice.
He eats every week regularly.
He sheds every month.
When I first got him, I was told to fill his tank because it was a little too room-y.
So I added a large branch in the middle.
But he has grown since 5 months ago.
His last shed, a couple weeks ago:

People generally keep males in 28qt tubs, so a 20 gallon tank would be fine.
If you do decide to upgrade, maybe purchase a PVC enclosure. They're much easier to keep proper temperatures and humidity in. And unlike tubs, you don't need to really worry about ambient temperatures in the room where the cage is.
They also look pretty neat.

Here's an example of a PVC cage I had made for my first ball python.
It's a 3'x2'x18".

Just a question, why are you wearing gloves when handling him/her.

I know a lot of breeders use gloves. I don't know their specific reasoning.

if its a breeder with a fairly large collection (or like 7+ snakes) its always better to think about biosecurity. Gloves help reduce the spread of diseases and parasites between individuals. kind of like a "herd-health" mentality to protect the overall health of the entire collection. but if its just a few snakes, I personally think it can be a little overboard, but to each their own...

Only IF you change gloves between every animal.
