Is this the right size feeder?

First time feeding a rat, showed the guy I got it from a pic of the snake on my hand and he gave me this..to me it looks a little big (I feed live) and he has been on adult mice for a while now. What do you guys think?

I think that's on the larger side of prey but as long as you supervise and such it should be fine.

Like midgard pointed out, the feeder is on the larger side. Make sure you supervise the kill. It might take him/her a while to eat the rodent but i'm sure it will be fine.

If he'll only eat live you can stun the mouse hell be permanently dizzy but still moving and you won't have to worry too much.

Or what I've done before is held a mouse in the air by its r tail until the snake grabbed it, unable to be on a surface the mouse is unable to defend its self.

That is the WORST advice you could give someone when feeding live! Please don't suggest that to anyone ever again!

First of all, by stunning you're NOT making it permanently dizzy. It can go into a frenzy at any point. A stunned feeder is the most dangerous kind of feeder because now they're unpredictable and going to be fighting for their life. Best way to feed live is by taking care of the feeder before feeding and making sure it's calm. Calm rats and mice will just go groom themselves or explore without realizing they're dinner.

Yeah I've had that rat for like a week now and he's been living in paradise. I would never stress one before feeding it to my snake, that just seems like bad news. It's funny you say that^^ the rat was grooming himself when he met his maker
