First pairing, locked and loaded!
Woo! It's my first time breeding ball pythons and I was really surprised that all three of my ball pythons are female, even though I had one sold to me as a male! So now I have two females breeding weight. However, I wanted to try only one clutch for my first clutch to see if I really like breeding ball pythons or if I just love having them as pets. I already have friends who want to have some of the offspring, and if anything I have money in my savings to buy a few PVC cages from Boaphile. I experienced my first lock today, and needless to say I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to many beautiful babies from Lucy and Charlie! Crossing my fingers for some blue eyed leucistics.
Lucy is a pastel lesser, and Charlie is a pastel lesser pinstripe.
Lucy is 1450 grams and she is my second ball python!
I have 7 free rack spaces, I heard the average clutch size is 6.

Someone's showing signs of developing behavior, I've never seen her so glued to her water bowl! :P She also did not eat this week, maybe next weekend though? I'm confused when female ball pythons stop eating during pregnancy, at what stage do your female ball pythons usually stop eating?

Anxious to see what you hatch out. Good luck to you

Mine usually stop eating as soon as I start pairing them. Mine may be odd, although I have heard of females eating almost throughout. But I hope you have a great clutch, keep us updated!

I had two of my girls do the same thing this year. It turned out they were going into shed. The one girl literally spent the entire week of the shed cycle in her bowl. After they shed the both ovulated so I think the bowl soaking is a good sign of things to come. I can't say exactly how long after the shed before they ovulated but it seemed to me it was within a 3 to 4 week period. Good luck to you.
