Do you let prospective buyers come see your new hatchlings?
Our hatchlings are due to hatch any day now, and in the past we haven't been keen on letting people to come see the hatchlings as we don't want to have them stressed as the first few weeks are critical for eating etc, and we don't know if outside exposure to any illnesses or anything is a possibility.
What are you thoughts on allowing visitors to see new hatchlings? Maybe a look and don't touch kind of deal? Or is that really not necessary?
We would have to bring the tub of hatchlings to another location as my partner is not comfortable with people knowing where our collection/home is as security is not ideal here (it took just one story of a collection being stolen for him to be wary of letting people into our house  ).

Galaxygirl, you have to be customer friendly but your safety is always the priority! I wouldn't allow the customer in my home but I would certainly meet with the customer, or potential customer, with one and only one hatchling. The one he or she is interested in. I would meet in a safe place like in front of the local police precient or local fire department. Taking a whole rack of my hatchlings, no way. And there is no touching the animal until its paid for. Always meet in the daytime and in a public forum. You can't risk yourself or the health of your animals. Anyone who expects to meet at your house should be viewed as suspicious. Be careful, but a customer should be treated as one and shold have no problem meeting at a set location determined by you. :salute:

Thanks for the responses. Glad to know we're not being overly cautious!

I don't mind showing people my snakes but I wouldn't even let people know I had anything for sale until it was eating and ready to go.
It could take a while to get a new hatchling ready and I'm not really sure I want to have the potential drama of someone putting money down before it was a done deal.

Never to the house. I have met people to look at snakes and do a lot of local sales. I always tell them Ill be the car parked next to "blah, blah, blah" that has the large german shepherd in the back. I never meet anyone without my copilot :D
